At the end of July of 2018, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) allocated just over $3 million to its Recreational Trails Grant Program. This program provides funds to a variety of projects across the state, all of which aim to create or improve outdoor recreation in Connecticut.

A case is made for Mini/Micro Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants to deprive large new generators of a market. Mini/Micro CHP appeal to consumers and municipalities by having very few line losses, no transmission cost or losses and no need to build inefficient larger plants.

Sierra Club Connecticut joined environmental justice and transit advocates from all over the state on February 4th - Transit Equality Day. Though Connecticut is severely lagging behind other states in access to clean, affordable mass transit, we can push our state to transition towards an environmentally and socially just future!

Ready For 100 is a national movement of people working to inspire our leaders to embrace a vision of healthier communities powered with 100% clean, renewable energy. We are asking mayors, CEOs, religious leaders, principals, civic and community leaders, parents and students to commit to solutions that help us achieve 100% clean, renewable and just energy

Inspiring Connections Outdoors

Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) is an outreach program of the Sierra Club that began in California in the early 1970s under the name Inner City Outings. Sierra Club Connecticut has two ICO chapters. The New Haven chapter was founded in 1993 and is still leading outings today.

What the Frack?!

What the Frack?!

How does fracking affect us in Connecticut? Senate Bill 753 will prevent waste from Pennsylvania or other states from being imported into Connecticut. It will protect all of Connecticut waters and prevent toxic, radioactive waste from being partially treated and discharged into Connecticut rivers and Long Island Sound.
