Ready for 100 On the Move
Diane Lentakis and Paul Brunner
Ready For 100 is a national movement of people working to inspire our leaders to embrace a vision of healthier communities powered with 100% clean, renewable energy. We are asking mayors, CEOs, religious leaders, principals, civic and community leaders, parents and students to commit to solutions that help us achieve 100% clean, renewable and just energy across the United States as soon as possible.
On December 12, 2018, The Ready for 100 campaign was launched in West Hartford at the Noah Webster Library. Sierra Club’s documentary, “Reinventing Power: America’s Renewable Energy Boom” was screened. This event was well-attended, and people showed an interest in helping the city transition to 100% clean, renewable energy. Three more events are planned for West Hartford.

The campaign was launched for Milford at the Milford Public Library January 29 with a well-attended screening of the same documentary mentioned above. The film focuses on people in eight states whose lives were positively altered by the renewable energy industry. After the movie, there was a discussion led by a panel of experts in the fields of energy efficiency and clean renewable energy. The panel members were Leticia Colon de Mejias (Chair, Efficiency For All), John Humphries (Executive Director, Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs) and Diana McCarthy-Bercury (Principal at the Earth Forward Group). A cake celebrating the 100+ communities in the U.S. committing to a transition to clean renewable energy was enjoyed by attendees. As evidence of the interest sparked by this event, several participants remarked that they wished it was longer!

A Sierra Club Connecticut member who resides in Windsor recently garnered interest in her community to learn more about the Ready for 100 campaign. Windsor’s Climate Action Committee will meet March 12 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Jim’s Pizza (124 Poquonock Avenue in Windsor). Interested Windsor residents are welcome. The aforementioned documentary will be screened March 13 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Windsor Public Library (323 Broad Street) and is free and open to the public (light refreshments will be served). Get more details on next screening at Sierra Club Connecticut Events & Outings or RSVP here.

Our next steps are to follow-up with people who attend these events and invite them for one-on-ones to engage them more fully in the campaign.
