A Note from Our Chapter Chair Find out what’s going on in Sierra Club Connecticut this month and what is coming up next! We appreciate our Sierra Club community and love to see you getting involved, so come out and join us at some events. We need your help in order to protect the environment, wildlife, and public health that we value so much!	Black Birders Week Black Birders Week in Connecticut was a great success, with enthusiastic participation and many different bird species observed and identified. Catch up on our celebration and why this week is so important for our communities and conservation efforts. We’re looking forward to future events and hope you will join us!	Climate Ride 2024 Recap A long-time member of the chapter communications team, Dennis Desmarais, planned a 1,000-mile bike ride to raise money for our Chapter. His solo unsupported ride took place at the start of May, and each day presented him with a series of challenges and misadventures – but he reached his goals!
Urge a Special Session to Act on Climate For the second year in a row, legislators failed to pass legislation to address climate. Connecticut is lagging behind other states that have stronger climate laws and more ambitious targets for pollution reduction and clean and renewable energy. We’re moving in the wrong direction, and we need your help to hold legislators accountable.	Reinventing Power, Renewing Hope Offshore wind is one solution we look to as we push to transition off fossil fuels. Our Chapter Chair recently went on a tour of the South Fork Wind Farm, generating 100% clean and renewable electricity for New York. Hear about her experience and her reflections on the expansion of wind energy in our state.	Photo Journal See what we’ve been up to this last month, from events to outings to rallies! Managing Change: Bringing EVs to the Connecticut Public The transition away from fossil fuels on the roads and towards electric vehicles is being met with some resistance. There is some criticism and even deliberate disinformation that needs to be addressed. Our chapter’s Clean Transportation team is taking on the task of positively engaging with the public on this issue	Campaign Highlights Take a look at all the highlights from Sierra Club Connecticut’s current campaigns and what we’ve been working on this last month.
