Ready for 100:
Ice Cream Action!
Diane Lentakis
The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest environmental non-profit organization in the country. “Ready for 100” is just one of its many campaigns.

1 in 4 Americans lives in a community committed to 100% clean, renewable energy. Twenty-eight percent of the population will be powered by clean sources of electricity such as wind and solar. A transition to 100% clean electricity will decrease the amount of carbon polluting the air by 260 million metric tons per year.

The Sierra Club and world-famous ice-cream maker and activist company Ben & Jerry’s, have joined forces across the country to advance our shared vision for a just and equitable transition. Volunteers at a dozen ice-cream shops throughout the U.S. are explaining the importance of 100% clean, renewable energy to the community and asking them to get involved.

As we have less than 11 years to mitigate climate change, the quickest and most effective way is to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy.

Through events like this, the Sierra Club foresees community members stepping up to the plate and taking action.

In Connecticut, we are co-hosting one event on October 5th from 12:00-4:00 pm at Ben & Jerry’s at 5 ½ S Main Street, West Hartford, and on October 19th from 1:00-5:00 pm at Ben & Jerry’s at 159 Temple Street, New Haven.
