Greetings to all! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Although times have been tough, I am inspired by the heroes and heroic acts I’ve witnessed in the last few months. All the essential workers and frontline healthcare workers - you inspire us everyday. All the elected officials and activists that have been fighting for people and the planet, ensuring funds and help go to our communities and not corporations - we thank you. And I would like to highlight the unsung heroes of this pandemic, the everyday American citizen. The person that has taken necessary precautions to protect the most vulnerable among us, that has donated time and money to help the community and local businesses, the person that has helped out their neighbors, keep people’s spirits up, and the person that has been a friend to someone who needs it. All of you give me hope and show us the vision of the world that is possible when we care for and protect each other. 

So in what ways is Sierra Club Connecticut trying to achieve our vision for the future during this time? Well, we continue to partner with Connecticut Citizens Action Group, among others, for the Insure our Future campaign. This campaign will hold Connecticut based insurance companies accountable for insuring and investing in fossil fuels projects and companies. Together we have produced a report full of information regarding these investments, held two well-attended webinars, made over 100 phone calls to CEOs, and sent over 400 emails demanding they divest from fossil fuel companies, stop insuring fossil fuel projects, and align their business practices with the Paris Climate Agreement.
