Fall in Love with Environmental Action during the 2025 Legislative Session

Have you ever thought of environmental action as a love story? Not just something we have to do, but a way to care for the planet we call home?
The 2025 Legislative Session started on January 8 and the Sierra Club did not wait to take action. We gathered at the Capitol to convey the urgent need for legislative action on climate and the environment. What is more romantic than protecting our home?
As we know, the legislature failed to act on climate these past two years, and there is no more time to wait. 2024 was officially the warmest year on record, and Connecticut faced many climate-related challenges including devastating floods, fires, and heat waves.
You’re probably wondering, “I want to take action and stay informed, but how?”

You first want to identify who your legislators are if you don't already know. You can Find Your Legislators here.

We will keep you informed about these things, but if you want to stay on top of it check the Connecticut General Assembly website and see when important committees are meeting, like the Environment and Energy and Technology committees. When they meet you can join in person at the Legislative Office Building or you can watch by livestream. In these meetings they raise bills and hold public hearings where YOU can submit testimony in support of or opposition to specific bills. It is important that your legislators hear from you. YOU can make that difference from your legislator voting for or against an important bill.
The Sierra Club keeps a close eye on everything happening at the legislature, and we’ve created a bill tracker to follow the important legislation that matters most. Follow our bill tracker to stay as up to date as possible when a change happens. You can find our bill tracker here.
We will be hosting a Testimony Writing and Training Workshop on Monday, February 10, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. This workshop will provide you with the necessary tools to craft and submit effective testimony. You'll also have the chance to write your own testimony during the event. You can register for the event here.
Inaction is not an option when the physical, mental, and financial health of Connecticut residents is at stake. Sign this petition to demand action on climate change during the 2025 legislative session.
This Valentine’s season, let’s show some love to the planet—because taking care of our home is one of the best ways to care for each other. ❤️🌎
