October 2024

IT’S FALL!

It suddenly turned cool at night, adding bright reds and oranges to the yellow leaves we’ve been seeing up to now. I look forward to many walks this season, enjoying the turning leaves and the fresh breezes.

EXCITING NEWS!

Sierra Club has added new partners to our Outings programing, the CT Outdoors – Sierra Club group, run by experienced hikers and paddlers formerly with the  Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK). They are already ramping up our offerings for hikes around the state. I hope you’ll check out the Meet Up page found on our Events and Outings page. (It’s the link at the top, updated regularly because some of the hikes are planned at the last minute). What a great way to get out in nature and enjoy the autumn leaves!

COMING SOON!

A VARIETY OF EVENTS AROUND CONNECTICUT!

Live in Bridgeport? The whole family will enjoyNature Nights, an ongoing outdoor movie night, Thursdays at 6pm through Halloween. Next up is “The Little Mermaid” on October 10.

Or maybe you’d like to learn about Sierra Club’s Capitol Area System campaign in Hartford. The goal is to turn this polluting energy plant into a source of clean renewable energy! At this educational community meeting, we will discuss the decarbonization study, present speakers who are leaders in the community, and host a Q&A session.

Sierra Club Connecticut’s many campaigns and committees, in coalition with our allies, continue to work to make our state a cleaner, healthier place for all of us, and for our animal friends as well. We are part of the largest national environmental organization, fighting together for positive change to transition to a renewable economy, slow climate change, and mitigate its impacts. Getting out in nature is a key part of our work! Please support our efforts by joining us at events, volunteering, or supporting us as you are able. Thank you!

Onward,

Susan
